Navionics chip

Does anoyone know the difference between the varrying levels of Navionics chips (Platinum vs Premium)? I see the Platinum edition has 3-D capabilities which the Premium doesn't have. The Platinum is $50 more... So, is the only difference the Platinum has a few lakes in 3-D or are all lakes in 3-D? I just can't seem to get a definitive answer on this.

The 3D is the only difference as far as I know. Also the platinum does not work in many units (really it's only compatible with the latest and greatest).

Does it work on the new Lowrance HD systems? I have an HDS5

Platinum works in all the HDS models. It does not work in any non-HDS Lowrance units. It also only works in the 800 series and above for Humminbird.

I really appreciate the info. I guess this is one way avoid having to lend out my chip to friends since I'm the only one with an HDS system.

I haven't used a Platinum card but I believe you get the 3d views, satellite imagery, etc for all the lakes on the Platinum card, not just a select few .....
