I am starting to get into bowfishing and i wanna do some nightfishing on this comin opener... I dont have the money for lighting on a boat. I just have a spot light and a 12' flat bottom and a friend to tag along. Can it be done with spotlights? And are the carp in the shallows yet? I have a spot in mind with cat tails.. Any info would be great:)

hey fishin, my buddies and I started shooting out of a 12ft duck boat with a 15hp and a trolling motor, set up a platform and 4 work lamps (under $5 a piece) with 75-100watt clear bulbs hooked onto a 350 watt power inverter with 3 extra deepcycles; we found the inverter at northern tool on sale for $15, i think they are fairly cheap today anyhow. but back when we started we had to go to WI to night shoot, luckily the water was clear so we could see fairly well with our cheap setup and shot alot of fish all night that way and some nice ones!

we did try the spot light trick, but that sucks the batteries and wont last more than 30 minutes, and it only has a narrow beam..

if you have a clear lake, you can get away with this setup (you may even try the new flourescent bulbs that dont suck nearly as much power and could be brighter)

check out the land of lakes bowfishing site for more tips and reports
