Bike Rack

Bought a Coachman Clipper 117st and I'm wondering if the rear bumper would be ridgid enough to hold a bike rack. Anyone ever mounted a Thule (or similar) 4 bike rack off the rear? I can make a plate at work that will adapt to the bumper and the rear underside frame of the camper as well for added strength. The rack weighs about 60 lbs I'm guessing.

I have a rack on the bumper of my travel trailer. I put an old receiver hitch right onto the bumper and put a bike rack in it. been doing it for years, never had a problem. I put 2 adult bikes on it, but wouldn't hesitate to add a couple more.

I was once following our friends down the freeway, they had a 32' trailer with a 4 bike rack on the 4" bumper. It started bouncing a little more, so on the next fuel stop we checked it out. The bumper was actually being ripped off the frame. No telling how much longer those bikes would have stayed they before they came through my window. I would NOT put a bike rack directly on a rear camper bumper without consultating a dealer about specs. Or having a welder beef up that bumper.

Your right zap but I was going to tie into the rear underside frame and the bumper. Fortuntely 2 of our bikes are youth which don't weigh much.
