Shimano Convergence Rod

Looking to buy one of these for an all purpose rod. I was wondering what power i should get and has anyone had one of these rods?

Get an 8 foot, heavy. 1-4 oz fast tip.

1-4 oz for small baits, bigger twitch baits and mag dawg and DCG's and bigger get something rated to at least 10oz. Match it with a good quality reel for balance and castability. Buddy ran a 8'H or XH Compre last year not made for DCG's but not a bad jerkbait rod. 8' Tacckle Industries H with a Shimano Cardiff 400 spooled with a good 80# line would make a great all around set up for about $210.

I wasnt really talking convergence....

I would scratch the convergence idea all together. Get a compre, you have a few options. If you are more of a CG guy or a spinner bait guy... go with the 8 foot heavy fast tip compre, great for both applications. I dont think compre makes anything longer then 8 foot, I might be wrong.

Esox is correct though, you wont be able to throw heavy stuff with this rod. Problem is that if you go heavier then you will sacrifice castability on even moderate sized baits.

It all depends on what you throw the majority of the time. Sucks because you almost have to devote a rod to only heavy plastics... Maby someone else will offer some info on it.

Esox, what do you think about the 7ft 6 MH tackle Industries rod?

It would be a good light bait rod, not for double tens or anything more than regular sized dawgs.

I went on the HSOforum and it said it was raited for 1-6 ounce lures and double tens but im no expert kind of new to this

I havent used his MH but my XH is about as light as I like for big blades. I do have a 9' MH here but it's not mine but seems to light in the tip for me for DCG's

are the tackle industrie rods high quality or would a compre be a better choice?

I'll compare the TI rods to my custom 9' Thorne Brothers Predator built on a St Croix built blank. IMO a way better rod than a Compre and I have used one.
