haleysgold
I've heard the horror stories of leaving your Vantage trolling motor down and having it end up in the bottom of the lake when fire up your big motor. There's a guy north of Brainerd that can wire them to the big motor so it won't start if the vantage is deployed.Does anyone know of anyone closer to Rochester, MN who can do this?If not, does anyone know if the guy near Brainerd can do it while you wait and how much it costs? If you think you saw this before, I had this same post in the Boats/Motors section but no takers... 0 eyebjim
I've left mine down a few time and got on a plane. Just leaves a big rooster tail. The thing wont come off unless it's pretty loose on the transom I would think.
0 haleysgold
That's good to know. Mine says it has "Break away mounts" or something like that which I would think means it breaks away and sinks!I don't really want to find out... 0 PierBridge
Countless Vantages have broken off and are in the depths of various body's of waters. Big waves, wreckless driving and a weak Vantage bracket are the main reasons. Also when motoring you should have one of the custom bracket's to lock it into place while not in use that will help immensely in keeping your Vantage from bouncing around and being damaged!I was pretty cautions with mine and I also had tether cord set-up just in case. Not sure it woulda worked and I'm glad I didn't have to find out!
