Didnt see the star tribune sunday article,,,but its rumored that the bulk of the steelhead run is already done on the Brule(wisc) and the fish are off to the lake..this weekend I wouldnt miss the muskie expo in St Paul for anything,,but was hoping to go the following weekend 16th-18th,,,anybody have any recent experience up there and what the prospects might be???

I was up there this past weekend. We didn't catch any steelhead but we had a nice one on. It sounded like some people had caught some fresh fish, but not a lot. You might be able to get some the 16th-18th but with this warm weather I'd think they're on the way out now or soon and you'd be better off staying in Minnesota for the small stream opener.

Was there Sun & Mon Caught two on Sun afternoon and three Mon morning there were fish in almost all the spots i tried. Did see a few still on gravel. The ones i got all were hens in the deeper 3-5 foot faster runs and all were spawned out. Caught all above Copper Range Campground. Used wax worms on plain hook, spawn and Yarn and Gulp egg not all at the same time. There always dropbacks for a few weeks even when they are done. Just keep moving down river towards the lake.GOOD LUCK.
