HB 917c issues

Palerider77

Question

I have a newer 917c on the boat, sonar readings have started to be off, and the depth indicator numbers flash at times. The display stops and starts and not as sharp as it was at first. Has anyone had similar issues with this or other sonar units?

I have a lowrance unit that does the same thing at higher speeds. have you tried to place the transducer in a different spot on the hull. if there is to much white water around it, it will do this. I would imagine there is no issue at say a slow trolling speed. if there is then maybe replace the transducer.

I'm not sure exactly what you're describing ....

If you're losing contact with the bottom, then it's either your transducer mounting, or a bad transducer.

If you're having display issues, ie. the unit stopping or locking up, you can check the voltage to make sure it's getting 12+ volts ----- but you're probably going to have to call HB and have them take care of it for you.

Good luck getting it resolved.

I am voting for a transducer, it had a run in with an iceberg on the mississippi, bumped off its perch. Shows no external damage, but that is the only thing that has changed. It worked fine for a while after I put it back in place, but it is the only logical issue.
