Marcum LX1 Problem

mozy

Question

I bought an LX-1 last year and have recently had problems with it. It turns on and I get the red line at the top, but other than that it doesn't show bottom or fish. Do you think it needs a new transducer, or is it something more serious that I would need to send it in?

Sounds like the ducer. If you know someone who has another Marcum you can try switching ducers to see if it corrects your problems. Another common indicator of a bad ducer is if you have to turn the gain way up to locate jigs, fish, etc. Another possibility is that your battery is bad or low. Hope this helps.

Nope, I was using 20' scale in about 10' of water, even tried switching to 40' and 60' scale to see if it would make any difference. I'm guessing it's the ducer because when I turn it all the way up I'll get small flickers on the screen whereas on a lower setting there is nothing. I don't understand why a year old transducer would go bad, but oh well, another $70 down the drain.

I have the same issue with mine. I'm going to get a new ducer and hopefully it fixes it.

I have a question for you. Prior to the ducer going bad, was the image on your screen jerky...especially in zoom mode? Mine was jerky and flickering from the get go. Fish/jigs never showed up as solid, consistent lines. Maybe my ducer was bad the whole time or maybe that is how it is supposed to look.
