mamohr686
If you got a brand new powerhead from the factory, you won't need to worry too much. That's like getting a top half with zero hours on it. I have a 90hp tiller that is the best motor I've ever owned. Probably the best thing you can do is find out which dealer did the replacement, and give them a call for piece of mind. They only way I know the motor could go down if if you had some kind of issue with the oil or fuel injection system.
minaki
Because of new powerhead seller says motor has less than 10 hrs so brand new like you said, will go and see the boat and won't worry about the motor as repair was done at authorized Suzuki dealer. marine_man
Welcome to Hot Spot Outdoors Minaki!I would ask the current owner why the powerhead failed, and see if it was a complete powerhead replacement, or just a block.marine_man
minaki
will call Suzuki dealer who did the repair and find out all the details. Thanks
SkunkedAgain
Yeah, it's certainly possible that the previous owner / seller did something stupid that led to the blown powerhead. If not, then I'd want to know what led to the powerhead failure and what they did to prevent it from happening again.
minaki
Talked to Suzuki dealer who did repair said a seized bearing caused the damage, I guess it could happen to any motor, anyway still has 4 years left on warranty so I shouldn't worry about purchase but I think warranty on Alumacraft is not transferable to 2nd owner. marine_man
I wouldn't be too concerned about the Alumacraft Warranty... you really shouldn't have any issues with that once the owner flushed all the bugs out that could have been there after being built.marine_man
SkunkedAgain
Agreed. Sounds like a good deal. Snap that puppy up if the price is right.
