Ford F150 with 4.6 Triton V-8

Recommended Posts

Anyone have an F -150 with this motor. I'm looking at a used truck with this engine; 2008, 4.6 automatic, 4x4 etc. I don't tow much of anything. Just looking for opinions, or someone's knowledge about this motor. Thank You!

The 4.6 is a pretty good motor, it has a few less HP then the 5.4, but if you dont tow, you probably wont even notice it. Otherwise they are very comparable to the 5.4, most cases even using the exact same parts.

I've had several 4.6s. Never had a problem with em. They did have some trouble with spark plugs blowing out around 2000 but that issue has long since been cured. Might be a little down on power compared to a 5.4. Mileage should about the same. Depending on the gearing 3:73 vs. 3:55 you should get around 18-19 on the highway under the right conditions.
