Bulldogs are not in by any means. Currently sitting 14th with a trip to the far north this weekend where I can't remember the last time we swept. We're probably going to need to win the home playoff series for sure and maybe the playin game to increase our rank.

If you can't sweep the gophers you know you are in trouble.

You know, I am getting a litte tired of the gopher hockey scheduling this year. The game tonight is at the taget center, and then they dont play again until sunday at 1pm. Teams have said they absolutely do not want to play an every other day weekend series and they do not want to play afternoon games. This is just dumb, more so for Wisconsin as they are actually a good team.

Really, a sceduling error. they double booked Marriucci with figure skating. Come on. Yes, they might get a bigger crowd at the TC, but still. How bad do you think the ice is going to be? If you have to do this, move it to the xcel, that might draw a crowd and have good ice, and not be in Dtown.

I am glad that UMD and Cloud are not my teams. Talk about a slide the last few games.

Stinking Sioux, I think they do have the tie breakers over UMD and SCSU too.

I just dont want the Sioux to finish 4th and play the gophs in the first round. Though it would be good hockey. I would rather they face off at the xcel, that is always a fun one.

By the way the gophs handled the Badgers pretty good last night. Easily could have won. 3 reviewed goals called off. It was a joke to have the game at the TC. The ice was horrible.

Schroeder and Fairchild were suppose to be 2 of the best players in the league. They are both just horrible right now. Schroeder cant score. Likely leaving.

I wouldnt want to face the gophers in playoffs. They are looking better, and all they need is a few players to get hot. And they are all overdue.

UND does hold the tiebreaker with those teams. I was looking at all the scenios that could happen and it looks like the most likely will be UND vs CC and Minnesota will face UMD. So your team still has a chance Scott. There's a writer for the GF herald who has this broken down on his HSOforum.

I can't believe the Minnesota game was played at the TC. I didn't get a chance to watch any of that game. There couldn't be a better time to play there best hockey of the year. What do you think Minnesota has to do to get in the NCAA tourament? Win the final five?

Yes, now they have to win the 5. And Fire Lucia. They had a chance if they swept UMD and Wis and then maybe got 2nd. A few other factors would have had to happen though.

Honestly, I think anything can happen in the 5. The gophs had played the top 2 teams in the last few weeks, and I wasnt blown away. Denver played slow and we out shot them, Wis didnt have any scoring chances.

If the stinking Sioux continue their pretty good hockey, they could win it.

If Denver, Wis and Cloud can finish strong, they could all get #1 NCAA seeds. I always love when the WCHA cleans house.

St. Cloud needs to finish off the Mavs tonight to avoid a possible play in game at the Final Five. The Huskies are without their captain Raboin (injury) and Marvin (suspension) so it won't be easy.

Will be at the NHC tonight hopefully getting a W for third place.

Huskies did drop to 5th in the Pairwise with the loss last night, Bemidji State is now 4th.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
