Planer board rods

A recommendation on what length and action to use when trolling with planer boards. Are the more expensive rods any more effective? Would line counter reels be a good investment? Thanks 4 the comments.

Line counter reels are almost a must, but you can get by without them. As far as rods go, Toad and I have been using the el-cheapo Kmart specials now for the last few years with good results. With these rods you're not looking for anything fancy.

I have been using Cabelas E-glass series rods with very good results.You can buy them for 20 bucks apeice if you buy 2 or more.I pull shadrapr on boards.They seem to work very well.They also handle superlines with no problems.They get my vote.
