Thumb warmer not working

Recommended Posts

Its an older sled - '94 Arctic Cat Jag Deluxe. Just noticed this weekend, grip seems to be heating, but not thumb warmer. Any thoughts on what to try checking first? Is there a fuse somewhere for this that I'm not seeing? Could it be the switch? I did a search, but didn't find much on it.

The thumb warmer should be on its own circuit. First thing I would do is check to see if it is a factory item or aftermarket. Being a 94 Arctic Cat Jag Deluxe, I assume it is a factory AC thumb warmer.

I would then check for any fuses dedicated to the thumb warmer (might have one or might not). If it is a factory thumb warmer, it would be located in the fuse block. If it is an aftermarket unit, has a fuse, I would look for a positive wire leading to the system that has an in-line fuse.

After this (like said above), I would check for any exposed wire areas for loose or broken wire/connection. After this I would suspect a switch. If something over heats and melts, it would be inside the switch. Plus they just fail to the use of being switched on and off over the years or moisture getting in them.

Last would have to be a failed resistor or bad element.
