Rod contest winner

Well, as most of you know, EC 30-06 or Softshell Ed won the catfish rod for the contest from last summer.

Ed picked out the rod blank at Midwest Rod & reel and I am now building it for Ed.

Midwest Rod & Reel really came through on the components with a huge discount.

Thanks Bill and Al for the help with the rod components for this contest.

I will have the rod done in a week or so Ed.

You do custom rods Harvey? Will you make these by request? I will have to keep you in mind for my brothers birthday in June.

Tom has made me a couple of them. He has done a really well job as well.

Here is one my son had Tom make for me to replace a rod Travis broke of mine this summer. It was a surprise.

I have seen some of Toms custom cat rods and they are really sweet.

I should probably take the time to go up to Midwest and get a refresher on rod building. I took a class way back in high school.

I thought you would like the shotgun shell casing for the butt cap.

That is a really nice touch Tom. did you have to cut the brass down to do that or just mold iit in there

I had to cut the plastic part of the shotshell off and then cut the brass down on the sides some.

I just got done with a new Sturgeon & Cat rod for Boilerguy. I was going to put a PBR can at the butt end but it was just a touch to large.
