I have a wheelhouse and currently run my forced air furnace and lights on a 12 volt battery......It is not wired for 110. If I get a generator would I need to get an inverter????? or can I just plug a 12 volt battery charger into the generator and hook that to the battery???

alot of generators have a 12 volt outlet built right in.

Either one should work. But I do believe depending on what size of generator you get, some will have the 12 volt plug in on it.

Technically an inverter changes dc into ac current. A power supply will take ac and convert it into dc.

That said...As long as you have a battery in there now to run everything you can just hook the battery charger to it while the generator is running. I wouldn't run the house straight of the battery charger without a battery.

I have an on board charger in my wheel house. Hook it up to my generator and no worries. I also have 110v outlets for TV, coffee maker,etc..

The battery charger will have to be able to handle the load you put on it.
