reporting unique/rare birds??

With my recent addition of bigger and better camera lenses I am starting to get into more birding. Last winter out here in WI I was talking with a fellow student and he mentioned a place where I could go that people reported rare/interesting birds...a forum maybe?? I have been searching some and cant seem to come up with much. I am sure some of you that are big into birding know what I am looking for. If it helps I am in Stevens Point, WI and I am obviously willing to drive. I have heard some good things about Buena Vista and Sandhill wildlife area.

You might want to check out wsobirds.org and see if there are any places that might be a hot spot for birding activity. It is Wisconsin's version of MOU.

You will have to make yourself a protective cover for the new baby grin

If I see those gloves go on sale I will let you know.

Thanks Jim! I will check into that HSOforum and see what I can find. I plan to have some type of cover on that lens Yeah that new lens will be a distraction with that big white lens and especially if I will be shooting on or near the campus here I would rater not draw a crowd. smile

I looked around it for a while and I think that MOU is better with more up to date info but it might at least give you some spots to check out that are close to campus.

One has to be careful when you are hauling around a lot of expensive gear with the rift raft that is out there.

do a search for mn bird atlas. MN has never had one of these put together and they're in the middle of a 5 year process to record breeding bird activity in the state.

they are looking for volunteers to report bird sightings.

oops, didn't see you were in wisconsin. i guess this doesn't really apply to you, but maybe someone else will be interested
