Planning a garden

How soon do you start planning a garden and what and when do you start your seeds indoors? Also do you buy seeds local or online?

I buy some more exotic varieties of common plants from seed online. Otherwise the common every day stuff I always buy local.

I will be starting my peppers and tomatoes within a week or two. The n a few weeks later start my cucs, pumpkins and zucchini.

Johnny's selected seeds is awesome for high quality seeds, some of the best varieties available IMO. I'll be planting onions, peppers and some herbs next week, tomatoes I start early March.

Fleet Farm will soon have seeds. Onions can be started now from seed with grow lights. I like to wait till the third week of March to start tomatoes otherwise they get too big. Peppers are harder to start from seed because they like to be warm. Maybe start them a week before the tomatoes. My stuff if pretty basic and I can get it all from Fleet Farm. Going to try potatoes this year and do lots more carrots. Carrot seeds and radishes can be planted outside in early April and onion sets can be started in April as well. I read this online but I am not sure how you do that when the frost does not leave till May.

All root crops can be planted as soon as you can work the ground. Don't worry about those frosts in late April and early May.
