Bright yellow fishing line

When is it a good idea to put the hi vis yellow line on an ice fishing reel? I have it on a couple poles and have not been catching much and wonder if the line is the reason. I can sure see the line way down in the hole. What is the theory of why one would buy this line.

Bright colored line is nice because it's easy to see if you're handlining and you can untangle it with fewer problems. Other than that, I can't see as many advantages for using colored line ice fishing as there are in open water. Try putting a leader of mono or fluorocarbon on the hi-vis lines, that should help put some more fish on the ice.

I use 2# Hi Vis Gold for gill fishin' when I have no bobber or strike indicator and just line watch. It is way easier to see for my aging eyes than clear mono. I feel confident with this set up and have good results.
