Ice fishing for Lake Trout and other trout through the ice

Having only fished for lakers once on Lake Michigan in the summertime, I have no idea how to approach these fish through the ice. What should I make sure that I have along with me to have a fighting chance? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not even sure what line to put on, leader/no leader, bait and lures? Thanks again! Once I get out there I'm fine wandering around until I find the fish, but it would help to start with the right tools at least!

swedish pimples are a good bet for lakers thru the ice

tube baits, airplane jigs. I have the best luck with power baits, in the glow color. blade baits also work, like cicada's.

for stream trout, a simple waxie works great on your panfish jig.
