sledbed trailer problem

Recommended Posts

I have a 92 newmans sledbed 8x8 aluminum trailer. There has been a 6" hole rubbed from my tire through the wood recently and it has damaged my tire beyond repair. I have 2 long track 500's and am wondering if the trailer is just undersized for those 2 sleds or if the torsion axles are wearing out, both wheels sit w/in an inch of the wood and bouncing probably causes the rubbing. Is that normal or is there a way to increase the clearance?

Yes it could be the axle, but typically one side will go before the other. Another thing to check is the frame where the axle bolts on. I've run into more than one that corroded/cracked and the mount sunk inside the channel.
