kingr
So I've been a ND resident for about a year now. I'm getting sick of the same ol lakes around Detroit Lakes. Can anyone tell me what Brewer Lake is all about? I don't know anything about it. Just wondering if it would be worth an exploration this weekend before the Vikes game. marine_man
Brewer lake used to be somewhat known for it's sunfish population. I head heard this more informally the last year or two, but heard it again on Doug Leier's Outdoors show with Jack & Sandy last week that the majority of the lake has been fished out of larger sunfish. A caller to the show had mentioned that they were out there, but didn't have much luck. There is Lake Ashtabula north of Valley City, Jamestown Reservoir and a variety of farm ponds in the SE Corner of the state for options...marine_man
kingr
Marine, I noticed those Farm Ponds around hankinson last night while on the F&W HSOforum. They look interesting. But may be for a warm March day. i will keep you posted on where I decide to go. I am going to go to the boat show on Friday to think about it! SJMyers32
Brewer gets hit very hard. I used to duck hunt a lot on those SE ND ponds, arent they subject to freeze out, we never found much depth there.
marine_man
Some of the ponds do freeze out... but most of the bigger ones do not.marine_man
