threedayweekend
Hi. Wanted to know if you could help me out and tell me some area hot spots to ice fish near Gilmanton. I was talking to some guys in the local tavern a few weeks ago and they said people fish the backwaters off Hwy 37 towards Alma? Thanks guys! Cooter
Hey threeday, Welcome to FM! I would agree with the guys from the tavern, fishing the backwaters near Alma is probably your best bet. Day in and out its tough to beat for consistent fishing. Not to say you can't go there and get skunked but it doesn't happen very often. Come open water, the main river is excellent for walleyes - plus you can usually still find panfish as well. Where abouts near Gilmanton? I used to hunt my moms cousins place just off NN and 88 at the end of Rudy Road - if thats what its still called.
threedayweekend
Thanks Cooter! We have a small chunk of land off 121 about 10 minutes outside of Gilmanton. I love it out there. The people are great, the hunting is great and hopefully the fishing will be the same.
Cooter
If you go to Alma for ice fishing, just ask in town how to get to the "Cattle Pass".
