Lotta years ago, I'd pay Joe's 'er someone to mount my scope and bore-sight it. It was always a good 4in - 6in off at 25yd, anyhow.

Then I started doin' it myself. With pretty much everything but an automatic, I could remove the bolt, rest the gun on sand, center a target in the bore, and then dial-in the scope ... re-check the bore (to make sure it didn't move), and I was a lot closer than anyone else ever was.

Sometimes, I'll swap a scope from another gun, and I'll just try it at 25yd ... usually I'll be within 4in. If ya can find an indoor range that'll let ya shoot it, ya could run the target right up to 5yd 'er so ... just remember to keep it 1in - 2in low of dead-center inside 25yd.

I think those lasers are just a way for someone to make some extra money.
