since the opener, 1 Jan, a total of 15 cats have been killed, of that, 10 have been female. The season will end when either a total of 40 have been taken or 25 females. With this many taken in this short period of times tells me that there are a whole bunch of cats around. Now add the mortality rate, road kills, GF&P kills on nuisance cats & the unknown number of SS&S to the equation indicates there is a healthy population.

That's true, they are here to stay AND to stray. However, numbers are high enough to drive out younger cats. And, that could/is the reason they might be migrating towards Minn. It kinda started out that way here years ago. A few reports, a few road kills, capture and collar, then BAM!!!, they are all over the place, territories saturated displacing them from the Hills to the prairie and beyond. It's not going to take long before the same thing happens in Minnesota, in my opinion
