CLEARWATER CLASSIC FLASHER NEED HELP

redneckiceman18

Question

hey guys im about to get a clearwater classic flasher and im not paying much for it im just wondering how this flasher is and if its worth it. i have a vexilar but id like another one to use for my dad and me. any reviews/tips would be appreciated thanks! all i know about it is that it is a 3-7 year old flasher and it has a good battery and transducer and i will get the opportunity to test it before i purchase it. how much should i be paying for it? i think im paying between 50-120 for it but need it priced. he is a older guy that does not know much about ice fishing just had it lying around and hes a friend so i can go cheaper on em lol.

It's a fantastic unit! Wish I still had mine......

Pricing sounds about right on the top end and a steal on the low end.

Strengths of the unit are target separation and battery life. Downside is the company is no longer in business so finding parts or service is almost non-existent.

Good Luck and Congrats!

This is just my opinion... I bought one when it first came out.. Saved like a mad man to get it.. I was probably only mid 20's at the time.. if that even. Not a great unit. Will it show you fish.. yes, will it always show you your lure.. probably.. on really small lures you may loose it at times.. I will say that your estimation of 3-7 year old is off.. its got to be older than that.. my guess 10-15 would be closer.. $50 would be on the high end of my bid.. You can maybe pick up an FL-8 for $120 which would be a far better unit in my opinion.

Dont mean to be a downer here. It will work, but like many electronic things, they get better.

$120 would definitely be on the top side of the price range for the unit but a CC in great shape will fetch a $100 no problem this time of year. I have seen them as low as $50 also like dietz has stated.

If you get a properly working Clearwater Classic for $75 you've done well IMO. If you don't take the unit let me know.

Battery life is great. quiet, durable , still have mine. Drawback is it has older transducer that is not self leveling. Keeping mine till it dies. I use it and the kids use the vex. Price it so you won't cry if it dies in a week and can't get it fixed.
