moose lake state park

I was just looking at places to camp this summer. I was just looking for some opinions on moose lake state park. Just seeing if anyone had more info on it other than was the DNR HSOforum says thanks

We have stayed there twice and I would certainly go back if our camper wasn't parked in a seasonal. Nice park. About 1/2 hr to Duluth if you have any interest in going to the Harbor, or up the North Shore.

Moose Lake State Park is okay if you are not into fishing.

midcoast what do you mean by that. I plan on doing a little fishing. Should I maybe look at another park???

Try getting up to Tettagouche SP, it's very beautiful. There are some lakes you can hike into and fish. I believe the DNR has canoes for rent on them too.

Also, Banning SP is a good one. It's right on the Kettle river which has some decent fishing on it.

Another one is Savanna Portage SP. It has a couple lakes on it which hold panfish.

I have camped at Moose lake several times. It is very nice quiet underused park. I like the "newer" sites in the part further back with bigger sites with more cover between sites. I did very well fishing there it is a very quiet lake both from the fishing peer and also DNR rented boats. I left my boast at home as we pulled a camping trailer.

do you know how much the rented boats runs??? I am not planning on making it a fishing trip so a small lake with fish works for a 3 and 6 year old

It was not much, they are just row boats and canoes fun for kids I think it was a like 10$ for the first hour and 6$ each hour after??? this was a few years back?
