Backpacking Ice Fishing

I'm just curious if anyone has ever done this. I'm thinking about giving it a try, but all the shelters are just too heavy. I'm looking at maybe using a TiGoat or a Kifaru tipi as a shelter. Has anyone ever done this or have any suggestions?

Never done it, but would guess you could get to some really good waters. You could hike decently with the Quick Fish 3, but then you wouldn't have any other gear with you. Let us know how it goes if you do it.

Thats the reason I purchased a 15 lbs portable shelter from Cabelas a few years back. I have no clue as to what the thing is called but it fishes 2 adult men fairly comfortable with the right seats. Its a great shelter just for the "backpacking" type of trips. I dont think I carry/ pull much more than 45lbs including gas auger. Try looking into this kinda shelter...

I bought the HT light weight shelter from Cabelas also. 11 lbs. It wont hold up to heavy use but perfect for carrying in somewhere.
