MNMUSKIES
I just built my first perm house, I have a vented heater out of a pop up camper. I have two questions,1. Should face the house so the vent isn't into the wind, or can I put like a mushroom cap over it so it acts like a wind break.2. The heater works great with a 20lb tank, but when I hooked up a 40lbs tank I could not keep the pilot light going. Do I need a different regulator?ThanksSean
0 BucksnDucks
I would highly recommend you place the exterior vent on the same side as you want your door.(Out of the wind, like you mentioned) I've heard of a few different guys that had to place a bucket or something over the vent to even get it started, let alone if the wind is strong enuf to blow it out at night when ur sleeping. As far as your problem with the tanks, that idk what the problem is, with mine im able to switch poundage on tanks without any problems. 0 MNMUSKIES
Thanks BucksnDucks for the info, unfortunatly when I build the house I wasn't thinking that far a head and the door and heater are on opposite ends. But I guess I would rather have the door facing the wind and have to run the heat more, and wake up in the morning instead of not waking up.Thanks again
0 blue_healer_guy
Funny you bring this up, I was fishing this weekend in -35 degree temps and the furnace ran better into the wind. Opposite of it the pilot blew out.
0 Pooh
i would try a different regulator, or take the one you have inside and warm it up and see if there is any water in it. happend to me when the house went out. everything worked good at home, got to the lake, pilot wouldnt stay lit. took off the regulator, tapped on it and out came a small piece of ice, put it back on worked fine.
