1 foot zoom on Showdown

I don't now if I'm doing something wrong, but how do you get 1 foot of zoom for the 5.6 Showdown?

I can zoom in and have the top of the screen say 13' and the bottom 16' then if I use the range button and zoom in more, it just brings the bottom 1' to the top of the screen, so the 1' bottom is only using about 1" of the display.

Only version 5.6 supports the 1' zoom function. And yes it is SWEET!

Thats what I have, the 5.6. I playing with it in simu mode right now and the lowest zoom I can get is 10'. 23' on top and 33 on bottom. It's no different when I'm using it on the ice either.

Just talked to Versa and I was under the impression the top the screen would be inch one, of a foot and the bottom would represent inch 12.

The zoom is in 1' increments of the water column so you can move the zoom range up or down 1 foot at a time. So every thing is working as it should I just misunderstood how it worked.

I can't say it enough, I love The Showdown! and this is coming from an LX-5 owner.

I couldn't agree more JSK.

I too love my Showdown, and I enjoy the extra zoom detail that the upgrade provides.

I also own a Marcum LX-3tc, and the only time the Marcum sees the ice is if I have a guest along who doesn't own a "flasher".

Great unit.

I have had mine since it first came out and kept up on the upgrades. The 5.6 upgrade is the best one yet, i love the 1ft zoom and the fact that they fixed the problem with interference is really nice. I just wish they were still in brainerd so i could get upgrades when they are still testing them:(

Been hearing a lot of good reports from the users on the Showdown, but I haven't been impressed by what I have seen on tv with them (clarity, sensitivity, depth increments/scaling). How many shades do they have with the monochrome/grayscale?? I just went away from my old Clear Classic to LX5 and love the color. Can't imagine that I would be happy with noncolor again?? Please enlighten me further. Thanks, guys.

From a reply I made last winter re: Showdown.(this was made before the current software upgrade)

I own both a Marcum Lx-3tc, as well as the Showdown.

I purchased the Showdown this year to have as an extra unit when I take others (those who don't have gear) out ice-angling.

I have grown quite attached to the Showdown, and when I go out fishing alone, it is usually the Marcum unit that stays at home.

I would certainly not say that the Showdown is a better unit, it's just different. I have no problem reading and understanding the readout on any flasher, but the simplicity of the Showdown appeals to me.

Personally, I feel features such as target seperation and adjustable zoom are overrated, but that is likely due to my style of fishing. I want to know: a)If there are fish down there, and b)how they respond to my lure/bait presentation. Once a fish is near my lure, I focus more on my line than on the screen.

No, the Showdown does not have the seperation that the Marcum or Vexilar (I have not tried the Humminbird units)flashers have, but I don't feel it is necessary for me to be able to isolate/seperate my spoon from the hook that is attached to it. It's amazing technology, and it's cool to look at, but I don't feel it helps me in anyway pull more fish up the hole. This is not to imply that the Showdown does not have good target seperation...it does. Most times (if I turn the sensitivity up a tad), I can in fact see my lure as well as the hook attached to it, but the Showdown will not match the upper tier flashers in this area. I have had very few issues in regards to interference and clutter on the Showdown screen; in fact, in most cases when I am fishing with others, I find the clutter on the Marcum is worse.

Another big plus (especially for longer trips where you may not be able to charge your unit)is that the battery life is superior in the Showdown. No need to bring that extra battery or charger unit on those three day trips up North. The Showdown will last just fine.

I do not feel that the Showdown is as good of a "scout" unit as the flashers, due to the fact that the colors offered on any flasher screen help to clarify what you are seeing. This mostly applies to when you are focusing on the bottom of any water column. If the fish you are targeting are up off of the bottom, I find it doesn't matter as much at that point.

I have always enjoyed buying the newest, coolest, most expensive gizmos (I'm kinda stoopid that way ), and initially I was going to buy the Marcum Lx-5 to compliment my gear list, but I'm glad I purchased the Showdown for all the above stated reasons. The newbies that go fishing with me like the Showdown because it is simple to use and understand. I like it for the same reasons, and because it didn't hammer my wallet, and it works great.

It's taken me a long time (and a lot of $$) to learn that the most expensive gear doesn't always help to make you a better angler, and many times a product at a lower price point may fit the bill better than you could ever have hoped. Do you get what you pay for? Usually....but not always.

I first I didn't realize the post from Buzbunni was before the new 5.6 version and started to think he had something wrong with his because mine it seems like it's neck to neck with my LX-5 for target separation although I haven't tested it witch I will do next time out. The Showdown has .46" target separation witch is much better then a Vex, and the LX-5 is 2.15 and .75 in zoom, in 20 foot scale, so actually Showdown has the best target separation on the market, due to the thinness of the LCD line that a flasher cant match.

Just to let you know, I called around to at least 7 or 8 stores today looking for a Showdown. All the big-name stores are out. Found one left in Albert Lea, had them hold it, and picked it up tonight. All the guys I talked to today said they can't keep them on the shelves and won't have more for a couple weeks. Hope mine works well!

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
