Bait cast reel

I am in the market for a new bait cast reel. I have never owned one for ice fishing before. I am putting it on a 42" Rod for laker fishing. Can anyone make a recommendation on which one I should buy? Nothing that will break the bank, just something that will perform well and not make me want to throw it down the hole. Thanks!

Ambassadeur 6500 or 6600 should work well for you as a good multi-purpose reel around $100. Ambassadeur also makes the 6000 BCX ($60 at Wally world) which isn't as smooth but still decent.

You could also look at an Okuma or Cabelas Linecounter reel. You dont really need the linecounter but at $40 they are cheap and reliable reels.

IIRC, my two are 6500's ... I'm gonna put one on an ice rod tonite! Always wanted to try that!
