Coyote Deer Kill

Recommended Posts

Wed. I came across an area at the Coon Rapids Dam Park where a few coyotes brought down what I suspect was a yearling fawn. Man, they didn't even leave bones behind! There were just afew pieces of stomach left & some tufts of hide. I first noticed it about 15' to the right of one of the walking trails while walking my dog. There is about a 12' circle of blood, then a few pieces of hide. It looked like the yotes surrounded it after chasing it, then they devoured the whole deer. I've seen one other last year, but there was at least leg bones and most of the hide left on the ground.

I have seen numerous deer that were dispatched by the coyotes and they do not waste a thing.

We lost a deer to the coyote a few years back and the next day we found where the coyotes got it and finished it off.

We found a section of the backbone for about a foot of bone and the rib cage bones were about 1 inch long.

If you would have taken a spoon and tried to scrape the meat left off the bone, you would not have gotten 1 spoonful of scrapings.

They took almost all of the deer including the carcass except the stomach area and ther was a little hair around where they pulled it apart.
