walleyeslammer
I have an older Mag III plus auger and I started it up the other day and noticed that the throttle only goes half full when the auger is running, but when it is off the throttle will go full. Is this some sort of a governor or do I need to fix something. Thanks in advance.
Fredd
Are you watching the butterfly or what? My lazer has gotten gummed up when I have laid it down wrong (exhaust residue). Mine usually lags when I open her up. I just needed to spray some wd40 around the linkage under the carb to work out the stickies. You should be able to work the butterfly by hand from beneath to see if you have a linkage problem or if it is internal.
walleyeslammer
I am watching the butterfly, the part that perplexed me was the fact that it opens up when it isn't running? I can open it up by hand if I push the butterfly over, but that is a pain and tough to control the auger. Any ideas?
Fredd
I would try the wd. Sounds like there is some gum inhibiting the throttle linkage from moving the fly or from the fly opening fully. If you can rev it with your finger than I don't think its internal.
Eelpout08
is it only opening halfway without a load? (when your not drilling a hole) check it when you're drilling. it sounds like the govenor preventing the engine from over revving
walleyeslammer
Yes it is only half way without load. I'll go fishing today (have to in order to check the auger LOL) and see if that is the deal. Thanks
OldBear
I think Eelpout has got your answer. Give it a try.
walleyeslammer
Just found a manual online, and it sounds like that is the deal. Another problem solved thanks to the forum.
