HDS on the ice

Tested out an HDS-5 on the ice today, very impressed with it's overall performance and ease of setup. I've been running a 334c at times for 4 years, this is a huge improvement IMO. Seriously makes me consider running it in place of my beloved flashers. The GPS performance was awesome as well!! smile

jimbuck, the thing that jumped out at me the most was the zoom controls and target separation. I had the HDS setup so it was tracking a 3mm jig in 30' of water, it was showing an excellent fine line. I didn't use it very long, but it seemed to have less hiccups and ran smoother overall compared to the 334c. The color pallete has lots of options, however it wasn't very useful. I found I needed to run an option with a white background for best results showing my jig.

Honestly, I don't believe my 334 ever ran very well in ice mode. I was always happy with it in open water, but it just didn't seem to ever want to run smoothly on ice - mostly used it for a gps.
