Smelt Hooks

I am going to try something new for tip-ups this weekend...Frozen ciscoe and smelt....Can anyone show a picture or describe the proper way to bait these?

Big treble hook pushed thru from bottom up in the middle of the smelt, then attach to a leader. Or a quick strike rig works if your a guy that has to yank them right away, just rig it like your using a sucker minnow.
