Garmin GPS Power Problem

For all of you that have a Garmin GPS unit that powers down with even the slightest bump...

I put a drop of solder on each negative battery terminal spring, making a constant connection to the terminal board behind the spring. I put the batteries back in, powered it up and dropped it on the counter a few times, which would have for sure killed it prior to this, and it stayed on!!!

Good Idea! I have an etrex Legend B/W that would shut off, too. A fix I tried is to shove some double stick foam tape behind 3 of the 4 terminals to force them to stick out a bit more. I hope it works, too.

Yep, I've tried that one too. It worked for a little while, but after a while, the unit would still power down with any vibrations.

Now it stays on all of the time!! Can you tell I'm a little excited. I guess I'm just happy I don't have to go out and buy a new GPS unit.
