pow & legend
Hi everyone, I got the idea of cleaning up the boat landings and lake shores before the ice comes in. I got this idea from previous posts where people would pick different lakes at the end of the hard water season to clean up. I know it's a little harder to clean up around the edges of the lakes but figured that any bit would help. I was wondering if anyone is interested in volunteering to clean up around the boat landings that you use just for ten minutes or so before you go out fishing just on your own time? I was thinking the most constructive way to go about this is for people to mention what lake or lakes they will clean up when they're there. If anyone is willing to pitch in a little bit I think it would make a big difference at our landings and lake shores. I go out fishing on forest lake a lot and will be cleaning up when I'm there. As dedicated fisherman we should care about what goes into our lakes so I hope that we get a few volunteers. Thanks and take care.

Black_Bay
The DNR has a program called Adopt a River that is similar to the Adopt a Highway. The program also allows people to adopt accesses or lake shore, etc. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/adoptriver/details.html
NCLaker
Me and a neighbor do our rounds on North Center at the end of the ice season. We use 4 wheelers, but with the amount of trash left on the ice we could easily fill a full sized pickup bed or dump truck ... pretty sad. pow & legend
Thats great that the DNR does that. I had no idea there was already a program for that. I'm glad to hear people are going out and cleaning up on their own time. I cleaned up on the mississippi in elk river over the summer and ended up finding a big car tie washed up on shore a long with a lot of other things, like NCLaker said, its pretty sad.
