Building first fish house. It will be 7'6" or so by 12. 2x6 floors, steel 2x4 walls and ceiling. Have two windows and a old garage service door. Two bunks/storage (one at each end) and two drop down bunks. Not sure what is best for the skids. What should I use as skids and whats best way to attach. Will be leaving at resort so I know they have certain critria in order for them to pull on and off ice. Thanks for any help.

Unless your dragging across blacktop and dirt roads 6x6 green treated will hold up for a very long time.

Bevel both ends so you can pull it in either direction. That comes in handy when taking it out of tight spots or when plow banks dictate that its only one coming out in one direction.

You have a 12' 2x6 rim joist, use a 6x6" plates on the outside to join it to the skid. Four plates on each outside will be plenty. On the inside you could use strapping on the ends.

If your looking for the skids to stiffen you 12' length because your excluding exterior sheeting and opting for steel or vinyl siding then use a few more plates. Drill a hole in all 4 ends of the skids. Pass a 3' length of heavy rope through each one and then knot it to make a loop. Make up a choker with an S hook on each end. Gather in the center and make a loop and knot it. The loop will go hook on the ball of the truck.

Insulate the floor and then put sheeting on the underside.

When the snow gets deep or when ice humps form, instead of plowing snow or getting hung on your floor joists the house will ride over them on account of the plywood underneath.

If your going to use steel studs then you'll need to use wood 2x in some areas for more strength and rigidity. For sure wood in the corners, windows, door opening, and buck locations.

Don't be afraid to use eves. Nothing worse then a house where caulk is the only thing keeping the water from running under the siding.
