MN Greenheads
I got word from family in N.D. that S.D. is loaded with mallards right now. If you have a S.D. license you may want to investigate this further. It was second hand info but the S.D. guy said "more ducks than he's ever seen". Friends in Western MN said they didn't see many ducks this weekend so I don't know how spread out they are. Just thought I would pass on what little information I have. Good Luck. Cheetah
SD is a mighty big state.
chub
Saw a report from the USFW a few weeks back that said 25% of the Mallards on the continent were in a few certain counties in SD. They've been there all season. Those that I know that have hunted there this fall said it was incredible. 60 miles west of the MN border
Jarrod32
We have had a lot of rain this year, and have a lot of flooded corn and bean fields. Ducks love flooded corn and bean fields. There are a lot of ducks in this area...though I suspect that they will be leaving soon given the predicted drop in temperatures this next week... EW6
Hunted in Sodak two weeks ago, Mallards were stacked in the flooded crops then and I am sure they haven't left. Driving through some of the areas you wouldn't even know it though because they are just happy sitting tight in duck heaven.
duckbuster
Just had a buddy tell me the same thing yesterday. He was calling me on the way home from there. He was just west of Watertown when he called.

Scott M
I guess the rumors are true. Steve Carney wrote about it last month in the Outdoor News, and everyone I talked to that went out there duckin' found em in flooded fields.
