When to Buy

When do most of us buy our decoys at that special discount rate? December, January, February? Which Brand are we planning on buying? Looking for some ideas of when and what to buy for next year.

There were some really good deals about a week ago. A lot of stores put them on sale to make room for deer hunting and ice fishing gear. Rogers sporting goods has some pretty good online deals as well.

I buy them when I can afford to buy them winter is a ggod time for deals thru the stores and in the summer I look for garage sales with them and I have really gotten some good deals off of HSO classifieds.

if i buy anything new, its usually out of the rogers sporting goods fall waterfowl flier. their prices are great and many items are free shipping.

Winter is my time for buying decoys. Spring is my time for buying ice fishing gear. Fall is my time for buying musky baits. Summer is my time for making what little money I can to "afford" these things. I try to buy as little as possible for full price. I also always look through various online classifieds sites to try and find some real great deals.

I work at Scheels in Mankato, Mn and let me tell you that NOW is the time to buy, just like everyone is sayin ice fishing gear is coming out, and we are making room and tryin to move all of out excess inventory. Most of your best deals will be now to the end of the year, and im talking decoys, bags, and even shells!

Like waterfowl hunting you need to scout. Check the stores for decoys you need and then occasionally stop by ... prices begin to fall often with an initial 20% discount. Then it is up to you to buy or wait, once some hit 50% or 75% off the ones you want may be gone.

I thought there was one main decoy company that essentially forbids deep discounts on their decoys. Not sure how they enforce this.
