Female lab leaking? Anal gland?

So my four legged hunting buddy is leaking a fishy/nasty smelling fluid every now and again. The vet says her glands aren't impacted so what do I do? The wife hates the smell and is [PoorWordUsage] she does it in the house. Its very rare but happens too much in her mind. The vet says to feed her canned squash to firm up the stools that naturally clear the glands while the dog #2s. I cant see feeding my dog squash all the time. Any thoughts on how I can keep my hunting buddy a house dog?

Go to Petsmart or Petco every so often and have her glands expressed. They charge a small fee for it or you could learn to do it yourself. Also if you take her there for a bath they automatically do it, or at least they did.

Maybe there is enough stuff in there to express, but not enough to make them impacted.

Mine has no problem expressing his glands, but he still gets the "fish butt" more than I'd like (which would be never ). Part of owning a dog, I guess.

You need to tell your wife that the 4 legged Pheasant Finder deserves to be in the house as a reward for all her hard work.

Id learn how to do it yourself - you can do it externally if the "penetratio" grosses you out. Just make sure to have a nice big wad of paper towels in your hand while you do it...
