coon calling

was digging around in my old magazines the other day and found a interesting acticle in predator about calling coons both during the day and at night, wondering if anyone has ever tried this?

I did hunt coons years ago day and night. Take a look at "Minaska dot com " and see what they have to offer for info. I personally know the owners and they are great to deal with and have years and years of experience. I have one of their videos and it's a blast to watch.

yeah in the article it talked about having them come after you on a dead run, if that's not a thrill i don't know what is, i think i'm ganna try it sometime this year thanks for the info

We've done it before but only at dusk or dark and have done well. The big sows will literally run you over to get to the call. I had to wait for one to get away from the call one time, as I was afraid I'd hit it and last year while coyote hunting at night over a ravine that had a lot of brush in it I kept hearing something down in the bottom but it wouldn't show itself. I had the caller hanging on a branch about 2 feet behind me. I switched the call to coon distress and immediately heard something coming and I looked down and this big sow is running full boar right at me. I yelled and it stood up at 5 feet and then turned and ran back(didn't have furbearer license). Almost had to change my pants.
