adjust headlight on '97 silverado

Recommended Posts

ever since i bought this pickup used (i'e had it for 2 years) the bright lights have s*cked. the passenger side shines way up and to the right. when i drive next to a grove at night it shines the tops of trees.

i have adjusted headlights on previous vehicles but for the life of me cant figure out how on this pickup. I checked the owners manual and it only tells me how to replace. both the dim and the bright are in the same housing so im confused as to if i adjust one will it throw the other one off.

I know its kinda a dumb questions but i was hoping to maybe improveo the brights for night driving.

Above each headlight you will find 2 inverted torx head screws. One screw is for up and down, the other is for left or right. Turn them as necessary to align where they need to be. Many times people mistakenly turn these thinking they are the ones you need to turn in order to remove the headlight. Also, make sure the bulbs are installed correctly. Many times I find them not twisted in properly and just jammed in place. Bulbs do have an "up" and "down" and must be oriented correctly.

almost sounds like the bulb if it is a sealed beam on the left side is in upside down. you should be able to read the maker or the word halogen on the top, possibly the letters DOT. if this is upside down the light is in wrong. I would check prior to adjusting
