Insulation

Hi All- upon inspection of attic in home we recently purchased the attic is woefully short on insulation. I have looked at ads for the different types on insulation and $. Question I have is which is better for an attic-the fiberglass batts or the blown in celluose? Anybody care to share an opinion on which is easier to put up there? Looks like celluose blown-in is a little cheaper. Thx. 8-Ball.

I would go the blown-in route. Its faster and easier being able to just have to haul one 5inch hose up with you rather than every single roll of batt insulation up through a tiny attic hole. It also gives you better coverage, with batt insulation it can be difficult making sure you have no air gaps, as long as you have an even coverage the blown-in will have no air gaps that will allow heat to escape.

Just an FYI, Muhnards rents the blower for free if you buy the insulation from them.

I don't remember the numbers but it was the amount you buy they would give it to you for a certain period of time. There is also a minimum but I recall it being very reasonable. I would go in and talk to them at the construction desk, it would probably be easier.
