An adult female was taken out by the GF&P yesterday in the city limits of Deadwood, SD. The cat, and probably another smaller one, apparently killed a deer in a backyard of a residence. The other cat, presumed to be a sub-adult and reported to be in the area, was not encountered. GF&P policy is to dispatch cats that wander into cities/towns. Traps have been set out in hopes of capturing the other one.

The traps worked. GF&P captured a 6 month old cat that probably was with the mother when she was dispatched.

So, what happens to that cat now? Will it survive in the wild without it's mother?
