bobbymalone
I didnt even know that i couldve done that, calling the warden... I don't think you could have, considering nothing illegal was done in your case.
Jordyn Kaufer
yeah... other then just file a complaint? idk the warden up there is really strict so who knows what wouldve happened.. next time i'll keep that in mind because someone did state that it could fit under "hunter harrassment"
honker23
It's called competition on public water. Get better at what you do(blind, decoy set, calling, etc...) and the rest will take care of itself. If you get some birds with a little competition, it makes it more rewarding. TruthWalleyes
Good Luck Jordyn next time you are out, I hunt public land around Mankato...and there's lots of hunters to spoil your hunt, after a while it becomes entertaining to listen to 5 different groups of hunters call at the same flock of ducks. Eventually you'll figure out that hunters aren't out in as great of numbers during week days I used to fill limits when i had sole access to my unkles flooded ground...dam broke, and it's dry now. Since i quit hunting that land, and started hunting public, i've only limit'd out once...and that was last year opener weekend. Now i find myself coming home with 1, maybe 2 or 3 ducks. I'm fine with that, but it is nice to occasionally be able to take a picture with your limit and friends. I brought a friend out hunting suday morning, his first time duck hunting ever, I shot 1 mallard, and that was all we got. I know he still had a fun time out on the water...even though he wasn't used to getting up at 4:30 lol.
BrdHunter01
Jordyn, Mudslinger is 100% correct. Of course people are going to call the ducks that are flying in the air, whether the ducks are working your spread or theirs. Thats the nature of hunting public land/water. The ONLY way to combat this behavior is to hunt better and smarter than them like mudslinger said. If the ducks see them they"ll come check out your spread, if they don't like their spread they'll come check out your spread... Now you just have to make sure they don't see you and set out a better looking spread... you WINPS: I see nothing wrong with what they did... maybe setting up 150 yrs is to close. But dropping something... prob an accident. Calling ducks.... Don't we all? And if the birds were locked in on your decoys and didn't come close enough for a shot they prob saw you or saw something in your decoys they did not like... Jordyn Kaufer
Our blind is the nicest I've seen in person, boat is painted camo(like tanish color) and our deeks are nice along with a robo duck
BrdHunter01
Oh, the nicest blind in the swamp huh? Maybe its your decoy spread then? But why are they flairing when their locked in but just out of shooting range? Its not because other people are calling... Thats the lamest excuse in the book. Ive had many flocks of 50+ mallards commit to my decoys while everyone on the swamp is SCREAMING into there calls....
