Valentine Refuge

I am meeting some friends at the Valentive Wildlife Refuge Lakes to ice fish this winter. I have not fished there in years. Anyone have any advice as to which lakes would be good for ice fishing? Last time we fished there the Bull Gills were plentiful but I understand that is not the case anymore.

What lakes do you suggest for panfish and watching tipups for northerns? Would like to partake in both at the same time if possible.

MN, I have never fished those lakes, but I think the fishing has remained pretty constant, at least for pike. I don't think the panfish are like they used to be. Wish I could give you more personalized advice, but if I were you, I would contact the Merrit Trading Post for tips.

Walleye4 should be able to chime in as well. This is closer to his area of the state.

I actually haven't ever fished up there yet! I got lots of friends that go up there though and will find out some info for you and post it. I can tell you that the panfish fishing isn't NEARLY as good as it once was! Still some good fish around but few and far between!
