getting across border with firearm

Ok. Just want to make sure I get all my ducks in a row. Going on a hunting trip this fall into Sask. I know to have the gun paperwork filled out and NOT signed. Anything else I need to have readily available when they are processing this. Passport, driver license, etc. etc. I'm assuming pay a fee and then they rubber stamp things and your good to go? Just want the specifics of this process so that I'm prepared.

Also, trying to make sure that everyone has their record things in order (which they say they do) so we're prepared as well (I guess I'm the worrying type). I understand the DUI thing and the rehabilitated stuff. One guy was arrested for DUI but charges were later dropped. One guy had his license revoked (medical) last year. What all comes up on the database? Will the arrest come up or just the conviction and will the license revokation come up. Like I said, just want to get everyone prepared on what to say so that they don't slip up and we're there forever.

Thanks

I have a PALS card so I never have to get out of the truck when bringing a gun in. But I crossed with my buddy last Thursday night. Here's what happened. It took 5 minutes. He had pre-filled out his firearm import form. After answering the usual where you from questions, we pulled into the side area, went inside, handed them the form. They do a quick "background check" and then took his credit card and charged him $25. Pretty darned simple. They may or may not come out to the truck to check the cereal number.

There will be no record of the DUI if the charges were indeed dropped before any plea or trial. That person has no concern.

There will be no issue with someone losing a drivers license due to medical reasons, as long as they don't drive in Canada either! It's not a crime to lose a drivers license, but its a felony to drive drunk in Canada. That's the issue.

You don't have to mention either.

You should be good to go. Have fun and be safe.

P.S. Most of the feared questions never come up. Only answer questions you are asked and ALWAYS be truthful. I've never, ever had any problems and I cross 15-20 times each year.
