Birds as in Geese or Ducks?? Do you have a refuge nearby?

I think ducks can be more hit or miss depending on the area and hunting pressure. Are you hunting water or fields? This all makes a difference.

What we do in our group is we typically take 2 vehicles and split up. Now we are talking geese here so....

We hunt birds coming off of a refuge for the most part and we have fields on pretty much all 4 sides. So one set of guys covers northern half and other the southern half and we set up on a high spot and watch as the birds leave the refuge and then we follow. If you dont have the luxury of multiple vehicles then I think your best bet for geese is to pay attention to the wind, because typically geese will fly out against the wind and fly back to roost with the wind...typically. Lots of time and gas money is spent, but when the weekend comes it all pays off. This is what works for us. Oh and the best time I think for geese is the evening, because typically they will go back to the same field until pushed out or food supply is gone.

I am hunting ducks on water I don't have fields to hunt and the one field I do hunt does not have any ducks or geese in it anyways. but I work until 7:00 after the sn is down. so the only time I really have time to scout is in the moring before school (college).
