whateverisbiting
I was at my brother's house in WI (near Spring Valley) sighting guns. They have 80 acres as a sort-of hobby farm. When we were done, my nephew asked me if I wanted to go see the grouse. We rode the 4-wheelers about 100 yds and sure enough there it was. He said they noticed it because it always came out and chased the 4-wheelers...my niece was actually afraid of it since it has bitten them. I thought is was pretty comical when she started crying saying, "I don't want to see the grouse!" Apparently it is always in the same spot pecking the ground for food. When it saw us, it kept pecking and started circling us, but for the most part, ignored us. They now can walk right up to it and pick it up.And I can't get one to sit still within 20 yards of me anywhere else!
Sherpa
Wow that is crazy. I have also had a grouse try to attack my wheeler as I was going down the trail. I wonder why they do this.
rwwong
I know of a similar story involving a golf cart. Apparently the sound emulates something similar to wings drumming, and it attracts them.
