ND Bowhunting so far

A couple of guys I work with shot a nice deer the last couple weeks. They did the scoring on the bigger one which was still in velvet. It scored something like 159 and with deductions it was 149. I guess you have to wait 60 days to get it official. The other deer was shot earlier this week and its smaller but not by much.

Thats a very nice buck. Is he going to preserve the rack with the velvet?

I was up a couple weeks ago but not hunting. I saw many deer but I won't be starting until mid October for archery and then the rifle season. I'm expecting a very good year from what I have seen and what the ranchers have told me is out there.

In our unit, the Game & Fish dropped the doe tag numbers for the lottery but I'm baffled why as there seems to be just as many if not more deer this year. Again, thats what a few ranchers have told me from what they have seen this summer.

I have seen plenty of does as well, Harvey. The only thing that I can figure is that the harvest was down because of all the corn and the G&F saw that as less deer. It could be an interesting year. I saw a couple very nice bucks on the last weekend last year, with me holding a doe tag, that will be monsters this year.
